Crash Tested: Rolling into the abyss with the pair of Onyx gloves

Have you ever heard the story of how important it is for you to wear gloves? Some of you have heard of the words gloves and safety in the same sentence probably in your childhood, when your parents used to tell you to put them on during winter before leaving to go outside. But while out riding your motorcycle the gloves are as important as wearing your biker jacket and pants. Apparently, in this story told by Karolis, the gloves were the only part of the protection he had.

It started with a 13-day trip on motorbikes in Vietnam. “I was worried that the gloves couldn’t protect my hands in the event of an accident” – Karolis expressed his fears just before he knew, that something would happen. But in this story, the gloves were the least of his problems.

What is a trip without adventure – it is simply necessary. Karolis was riding through heavy rain, which didn’t stop for 7 days. Can you imagine the feeling during this type of rain, that doesn’t stop and every piece of clothing is soaking wet? And if that wasn’t enough, it turns out there was a miscalculation with the route, he needed to complete a two-day trip in a day. This means riding through the night. “We were wet and cold, and the only thing lighting up the night was the tail lights of our bikes” – Karolis shared his extreme experience. What does this mean to the emotional and physical well-being of a motorcyclist? It all adds up: horrible weather, stress, fatigue, and every other circumstance. Anyone who has ridden during the night, knows, that this is never the best option for a rider.

The climax of the story happened on the 13th hour of the ride (kind of weird how the number 13 has repeated itself, coincidence?). While the navigation was showing the way forward, the road unexpectedly ended! Before him was the abyss. No road signs, no warning, nothing. What was the following step he took? Brakes were hit too hard and the Pando gloves were put to the test. “The gloves held up their own, I couldn’t say the same for my knees and elbows” – without revealing too many details said Karolis. It’s a shame that accidents like this happen and they don’t put enough effort in Vietnam to put up road signs. It turns out that Karolis rode without any protection apart from the gloves, so even now he is still in recovery after the fall.

Then Karolis jokingly mentioned, that if his wife knew just how much he has spent on motorcyclists’ apparel, it would be much worse than the accident in Vietnam.
