Crash Tested: A Curb and a 50-Meter Tumble

Some crashes happen at high speed. Others begin with a moment so small that there is barely time to understand what went wrong. For Jacob, a ride home through Johnson City, Tennessee, changed in an instant when his motorcycle clipped a curb while rounding a curve. What followed was a violent tumble, multiple broken bones, and a long recovery. But throughout the crash, one piece of his motorcycle gear continued to do its job.

A Ride Home Takes a Turn

On May 27th, 2026, at around 10:30 p.m., Jacob was riding his motorcycle near his home in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was traveling at approximately 40 mph when he clipped a curb while going around a curve.

The impact threw him from the motorcycle.

Jacob tumbled across the road and eventually came to a stop approximately 50 meters from the point where the accident began.

A Serious Crash

The accident caused significant injuries. Jacob sustained approximately 9 broken bones on the left side of his body, along with road rash on both elbows, his left shoulder, and his right knee.

Emergency medical services were called, and Jacob was transported to the emergency room for treatment.

Despite the severity of the crash, there was one important area where his injuries were limited.

His lower body had received substantial protection from the protective gear he was wearing.

The Gear That Held Up

Jacob was wearing Pando Moto Mark AAA, a pair of motorcycle pants designed for riders who want everyday functionality alongside motorcycle-specific protection.

The pants sustained significant damage around the right knee, where a large hole developed. This was also the area where Jacob suffered road rash on his right kneecap.

However, aside from that damaged section, the pants held up extremely well throughout the crash.

They protected the rest of his legs from additional road rash and injury during the approximately 50-meter tumble. Jacob credits the pants with protecting his lower body during one of the most violent crashes he has experienced.

Once he arrived at the emergency room, trauma staff had to cut the pants off with trauma shears so they could treat his injuries. The cuts made by the medical team are visible in the photos Jacob submitted.

Built for Serious Riding Protection

The Pando Moto Mark AAA cargo pants are designed for riders looking for men's motorcycle gear that combines everyday functionality with motorcycle-specific protection. Their cargo-inspired design makes them a practical choice for riders who want riding gear for men that can work both on and off the motorcycle.

Built for demanding riding conditions, the pants are designed to provide abrasion resistance and impact protection in areas vulnerable during a crash.

Jacob's experience shows the importance of that protection. While the right knee area was ultimately compromised during the accident, the rest of the pants continued to protect his lower body through the crash and prevented additional road rash.

For a rider who suffered multiple broken bones and extensive road rash elsewhere on his body, the protection provided by the pants was particularly significant.

A Rider Who Trusts His Gear

Jacob's experience has reinforced just how important protective equipment is to his riding.

"I wear them religiously when I ride and love them," he said.

Even after such a serious accident, his goal is to return to riding once he has recovered, and he specifically hopes to get back into the Mark Cargos that he trusted before the crash.

The Takeaway

Jacob's story is a reminder that motorcycle crashes do not have to happen at extreme speeds to cause serious injuries. A curb, a corner, and a split second were enough to send him tumbling approximately 50 meters and leave him with multiple broken bones.

While no safety gear can prevent every injury, quality motorcycle riding gear can help reduce the consequences of a crash.

In Jacob's case, the Mark AAA Cargos took substantial damage at the right knee but protected the rest of his lower body from additional road rash and injury.
