Crash Tested: Cold Tires, a Quick Ride, and Pants That Held Strong

October 23, 2025

It was the first chilly morning in a long time – just below 10 °C (50 °F). Nathan, an experienced motorcyclist used to the scorching 30–40 °C (85–100+ °F) heat, set out on what seemed like a short, simple trip to the store. Less than a mile from home, no protective gear felt excessive, and no obvious dangers were in sight. But the cool air was already a reminder of a different kind of ride – one where a single mistake can change everything.

When the Unexpected Happens

Just moments into the ride, everything took an unexpected turn. With cold tires and far from optimal grip, it only took elaborated excitement to give too much of the throttle, making the first tyre come off. As the front wheel suddenly lifted, balance was lost, and in an instant, the bike slipped out from under him. A quick errand turned into an accident Nathan hadn’t seen coming.

Fully Geared and Grateful for It

Fortunately, Nathan was wearing a full motorcycle clothing set. He wore a protective jacket, gloves, a helmet –  and most importantly, his MARK OLIVE AAA – Cargo Style Motorcycle Jeans for Men with Cordura® and Balistex®.

The bike’s frame sliders helped minimize the damage to the machine, while the motorcycle gear took care of him. The jeans suffered only minor tears to the outer fabric – some scuffing on the zippers and buttons –  but all closures remained functional.

Nathan walked away with only a small scrape on his knee, and that happened only because he hadn’t inserted the knee protectors that day. His legs, which took the brunt of the slide, were otherwise unharmed.

The Pants That Did Their Job

Nathan was wearing Pando Moto motorcycle jeans – made of extremely durable CORDURA® comfort–stretch denim and designed with built-in armour pockets for knees and hips. These pants are built as the first line of defense in real-life crashes, offering protection, comfort, and functionality without compromise. Even after direct contact with asphalt, they remained intact and wearable.

A Short Ride – an Important Lesson

“It was just an 8-kilometre (5-mile) round trip,” Nathan recalls. “I know many people wouldn’t put on full gear for such a short ride, but my gear and the bike’s sliders saved both me and the bike, 99.9% of the way.”

Nathan’s story is a reminder that danger doesn’t wait for long routes or high speeds. It can appear on any road, at any time, even less than a mile from home. And when it does, the right motorcycle riding gear makes all the difference.
