Crash Tested: An Unexpected Slide on a Swedish Road and the Gear That Saved the Day

December 15, 2025

Not every ride ends with a story, but some become reminders of just how unpredictable even a short trip can be. One motorcyclist learned this the hard way on a sunny October afternoon in the Swedish countryside.

A Turn, a Slide, a Close Escape

In October 2025, while riding on a dry, winding country road in Sweden at around 60–70 km/h, the rider entered a left-hand curve. Although the weather was clear and visibility was excellent, the motorcycle suddenly lost traction. In an instant, a low-side slide sent the bike off the road and onto the shoulder. While the impact was strong, the rider was lucky to avoid serious injuries. However, the force of the fall was enough to test every piece of motorcycle gear he was wearing.

The Gear That Made the Difference

The motorcyclist was fully equipped with Pando Moto protective gear: Pando Moto Skin UH AAA Base Layer Leggings, the Commando UH Armored Jacket, a Spine Armor for Bikers and and a Pando Commando Cordura Pouch Black. Although one area of the jacket sustained damage, the rest held up perfectly. The armored Pando Moto leggings, in particular, performed flawlessly – they absorbed the impact and completely protected the lower body, leaving the legs and hips completely uninjured.

What makes the Pando Moto Skin UH AAA Base Layer Leggings stand out is their AAA-level abrasion resistance. Constructed with BALISTEX® fibres, which are 15 times stronger than steel yet lightweight and flexible, they deliver exceptional impact protection, heat resistance, and comfort. Designed to be worn under any pants, these leggings offer discreet yet uncompromising safety for every ride.

The COMMANDO UH BLACK is equally impressive. Crafted from power-stretch knitted Balistex® fabric with Cordura® mesh, it combines reinforced abrasion protection with built-in armor pockets for shoulder, elbow, and back protectors. The material is both breathable and highly durable, allowing freedom of movement while shielding the upper body from impact and friction. In this case, the jacket sustained minor surface damage but preserved its structural integrity, preventing any injury to the torso or arms. This incident once again proved an important truth: even relatively low-speed crashes can be dangerous, and quality motorcycle riding gear often draws the line between a mild scare and a serious injury.

A Lesson of Preparation

Looking back, the rider expressed gratitude for wearing full protective gear, recognizing that it played a major role in preventing severe injuries. Want the same protection as he had? Explore Pando Moto’s crash-tested gear here.
